AI Cleanup uses Gmail API access only to help you find cleanup candidates and move messages you explicitly select to Gmail Trash. Gmail data is processed on your iPhone and is not sent to an AI Cleanup backend server.
01 — ACCESS
Google user data the app accesses
After you grant permission through Google OAuth, AI Cleanup may access:
- Your Google account email address, so the app can identify the connected account.
- Gmail message identifiers and Gmail labels or categories needed to find Spam, Promotions and messages older than 90 days.
- Limited message metadata used to display cleanup candidates: Subject, From, List-Unsubscribe header, internal date and estimated message size.
AI Cleanup does not request or load the body text or attachments of Gmail messages. It does not compose or send email.
02 — PURPOSE
How Google user data is used
The accessed data is used only for user-facing Gmail cleanup features visible inside the app:
- Search Gmail using the selected filter: Spam, Promotions or older than 90 days.
- Display cleanup candidates with enough metadata for you to make an informed choice.
- Open a sender-provided HTTPS unsubscribe page when you choose that option.
- Move only the messages you select and confirm to Gmail Trash.
The app needs https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modify because read-only or metadata-only access cannot move a user-selected message to Gmail Trash. AI Cleanup does not use the scope to compose or send email, and it does not permanently delete messages.
03 — STORAGE & TRANSFER
Where the data goes
- Gmail data travels directly between Google's APIs and your iPhone over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- AI Cleanup does not operate a backend that receives or stores Gmail messages or message metadata.
- Cleanup candidates remain in app memory for the active experience and are not written to an AI Cleanup cloud database.
- OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored locally in the iOS Keychain.
We do not transfer, disclose or sell Google user data to advertising platforms, data brokers or other third parties. Humans do not read your Gmail data.
04 — YOUR CONTROL
Authorization, deletion and revocation
Gmail access is optional. You can use other AI Cleanup features without connecting a Google account.
- Before any Gmail access, Google shows the requested permissions and asks for your consent.
- Before cleanup, AI Cleanup requires you to select messages and confirm moving them to Trash.
- Use “Sign out of Google Mail” in AI Cleanup to delete the OAuth token stored by the app.
- Revoke access at any time from your Google Account third-party connections.
Messages moved to Trash remain governed by Gmail's recovery, retention and deletion behavior.
05 — LIMITED USE
Google API Services User Data Policy
AI Cleanup's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google user data is not used for serving advertisements, retargeting, personalized advertising, determining creditworthiness, training generalized or personalized AI models, or any purpose unrelated to the Gmail cleanup feature you can see and control.
